How do you justify your existence?
This question was posed in The Thinkers, a Facebook group, that I recommend joining if you like to respond and see the responses to philosophical prompts.
I have never thought about this except when confronted with depression that could have led to suicidal ideation.
My answer is it is not for me to justify my existence nor justify ending it.
Why that is my answer goes directly to the question of creation.
I have studied many ideas about creation from religious, scientific, and philosophical sources.
My conclusion is derived from the Dao-de-jing and scientific knowledge.
I am comfortable with knowing (and not believing) the universe created me but not in the sense that the universe decided one day to create me specifically.
The universe created me in the course of trying to understand itself through the process of material changing through moments in relation to all material changing through all moments.
As the moments pass, the material that is me changes.
At some point, the me material changes to where it crosses a threshold beyond which the me material is no longer sentient or living.
The material continues to exist after that, changing into other identifiable things.
