Periodically, I have been receiving email messages telling me that people are subscribing to me here. That’s really wonderful, considering I haven’t been doing much of anything on Substack.
I am delinquent in writing fresh material or even importing material from Medium (which I just did). The best I can say is that I haven’t neglected Substack as much as I have Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
Since it is spring, the idea of cleaning pops into my head.
I don’t know what Instagram does, other than send push messages to my phone indicating people are posting stuff that I don’t know why they post.
I hear that LinkedIn can be a lucrative forum for writers. Given how little interaction I have experienced there in the last decade or so, I don’t see how. It is the place that confirmed I had been rendered unemployable by my last employer.
Pinterest has led me to a few items for gifts. It is rare for me to pin new items to my account. Just how many maps of Europe through the ages can one choose?
Facebook points me down rabbit holes daily and it’s the minimal amount of energy required to maintain relationships with a large number of people.
With Twitter, I enjoy responding to questions that folks post. My comments rarely generate any interest, but the questions are fun.
Once in a while I conclude that it’s a time waste.
Now and then I realize that no one really is paying attention to my tweets.
More often than not I remember that I don’t want to be associated with Elon Musk.
I consider closing my Twitter account in those moments of responsible thinking.
After all, Elon Musk probably doesn’t want to be associated with me, but he’s so busy firing people, dog knows when he will get around to deleting my account.
I will give it to the end of the week and then decide whether or not to close any accounts. Until then, I will see what can be done to make Substack part of my routine.
